Application Process

We appreciate your interest in enrolling your child at Tulip Christian School! We understand how important schooling decisions are and are here to assist you in any way we can. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any questions. We look forward to working with you as you complete the below steps.

For the 2023-2024 school year, we are accepting applications for Kindergarten through 12th grade starting on June 1st.

Tulip Christian School seeks to admit students whose parents desire a quality, biblical education for their children. The school admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to TCS students. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national or ethnic origin in the administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, tuition aid programs, and other school-administered programs and activities. The school does reserve the right to deny admission to any family/student who are not in accordance with our vision, mission, statement of faith, and whose personal lifestyle is not in alignment with biblical principles.

STEP ONE: CALL THE OFFICE (OPTIONAL)!
Please call the office or email our administrative assistant to ask any questions you might have.

STEP TWO: APPLICATION
A list of items we will be asking for are as follows:

  • Application for Admission

  • Application Fee of $50

  • Recent and Previous Report Cards

  • Test Scores from the last 12 months

  • Birth Certificate

  • Signed Statement of Faith

  • Signed Statement of Support

  • Copy of the 2022 Federal 1040 Tax Return to determine ESA eligibility (Iowa Students Only).

  • A completed Pastor Reference Form. (A pastoral staff member must fill this out).

STEP THREE: TESTING
After we have received your application paperwork, we will set up a time for your child to take an academic test.
All kindergarten students will be given a kindergarten readiness test.
Students (1st grade and above) will be tested primarily in math, writing (typing), grammar, reading, and Bible.
Potential students coming from a variety of other schools (private, Christian, public, or home school) can be at very different academic levels. Because of our academic rigor, we want to make sure that each student is a good fit for their grade level so that they will be successful.

STEP FOUR: PARENT AND STUDENT INTERVIEW
Part of the application process includes a sit-down interview with each family. Both parents and prospective student(s) will meet with the admissions committee and Administrator. This allows us to get to know you (and vice-versa) as we consider each student for enrollment.

STEP FIVE: ENROLLMENT
After the evaluation of the forms submitted, testing results, and the interview, a decision will be made by the admissions committee regarding the status of entry into the school. If applicable, each family will receive an email with the decision and next steps.

*If your student has an IEP, please send the school a copy so we can determine if we can meet their needs.
*For a student to be eligible to enroll in Kindergarten, the child must be turning 5 years old on or before August 1st of the school year.
